How to apply for a painting license
The process of applying for painting and decorating license differs from one state to another. Any individual, individual firm, or entity must have the following qualifications before applying for a painting and decorating license:
  • BCG30603 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
  • CPC30608 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
  • CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
  • CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating

An individual will be required to furnish proof of practical experience based on the duration an individual has worked in a relevant role, as well as the type of work performed.

Why do you need a painting license?

A recognized painting license permits anyone to run painting and decorating business in the state or territory in which the registration for painting license to work has been obtained. It also regulates the all types of project whethether residential or commercial. A trained professional can also establish their own firm with a painting license.

An individual with extensive experience in bricklaying or carpentry without any formal qualification can go for RPL or effectively complete his full qualification based on his existing experience. There is no difference between the conventional building license process and obtaining it through Recognition of Prior Learning or RPL. RPL is ideal for individuals who have work experience and are looking for cost-effective ways to start their painting and decoration work.
